Visit the Exhibit Museum of Natural History in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Created in the 1920s, the Exhibit Museum of Natural History on the grounds of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor has a number of great exhibits that will please everyone who walks through their doors.
Those who come to the museum will be able to see many different permanent exhibits, as well as quite a few rotating, temporary exhibits.
Hall of Evolution
The Hall of Evolution, located on the second floor, has a number of displays that show prehistoric life. Visitors will be able to see dioramas, models, as well as real fossils. You can see and learn about dinosaurs, mastodons, prehistoric whales and more in this area of the museum.
In the Anthropology area, guests will be able to see displays that show a variety of different cultures from around the world. You will be able to learn about every major culture the world has ever seen, from Native Americans to African. In addition, you will be able to view many different artifacts from those cultures.
The Geology displays at the museum are quite impressive as well. You will be able to see many different kinds of gems and minerals in the exhibits, as well as learn about the geology of different areas of the world.
Michigan Wildlife Gallery
The Michigan Wildlife Gallery has a massive collection of taxidermy mounts that highlight many of the different creatures that are native to the Great Lakes area. You can see birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and more. In addition to the animals, you can also find some great displays that explain some of the environmental problems that people in the Great Lakes area face.
Besides the great permanent exhibits mentioned above, the Exhibit Museum of Natural History has a number of temporary exhibits as well.
One of their current exhibits explains particle physics and how the Large Hadron Collider operates. Another temporary exhibit is the History of Pipes. The exhibit traces the uses of pipes, as well as the materials from which they were made.
The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9AM to 5PM, and on Sunday from 12PM to 5PM. Admission is free to individuals and groups of 10 or less, although a $6 donation is suggested per person.
